Rockingham
County Partnership for Children strives to fund programs that adhere to
the following guiding principles.
Focus
on children birth - 5 and their families with the greatest need:
Programs must demonstrate that children and families with the greatest
need are being served.
Best Practices: Activities should incorporate elements
of program models that have demonstrated effectiveness in achieving outcomes.
Family/Community Centered: Programs should demonstrate
how families and communities, when appropriate, are involved in the implementation
of the activity. Family strengths should be recognized and follow up provided
with families to evaluate the effectiveness of services.
Collaboration: Programs should include collaboration
with other existing agencies in order to work together to improve the
quality of direct service delivery to young children and their families.
Organizations should reduce and/or eliminate duplication and fragmentation
of services.

Integration: Each activity must be coordinated into the
current system of services. It should enhance or build on existing services
resulting in expanded community capacity to meet needs and not duplicate
or supplant existing services.
Diversity: Programs should reflect an understanding of
every family's unique culture and traditions, including but not limited
to ethnicity and language, socio-economic status, family structure, religious
preference and special developmental/health needs.
The Rockingham County Partnership for Children funds programs that address
the education and health needs of children birth to kindergarten entry.
Programs and activities work to achieve the mission of ensuring all children
enter school healthy and ready to succeed.
